Video: What is Cinematic Architecture? - Part 1 2024, April

The architect based his work on the idea that now watching films as a form of entertainment has left the auditorium and moved not only to the spectators' apartments, but also to cafes, parks, transport - wherever you can take a media player. Therefore, the focus of the project is on public spaces - cafes, parks, squares - which are transformed with the help of screens, turning into a cinema space.

As a result, the total area of the complex built in 1984 will increase from 20 to 29 thousand m2, of which 7,000 m2 are in public areas. Instead of the old conventional parking lot, a 6-level parking lot will be erected, which will free up 70% of the area it occupies: this is where the park, the "plaza" and the open amphitheater will be located.

The area of film storages will also increase (from 1500 to 2200 m2), an exhibition hall and a laboratory for digital restoration of films, 4 auditoriums with a total capacity of 1000 seats will appear (the existing ones, designed for 2050 spectators, will also remain).
