In accordance with the terms of reference, the two-storey building should be located on the roof of one of the low-rise buildings of the Artplay, ie. literally cleave to the existing brick building and factory bomb shelter. The showroom and office of NLK Domostroenie are supposed to be located on the 1st floor, on the 2nd - similar premises for an interior company. In addition, the project should make the most of the possibilities of laminated veneer lumber and organically integrate into the family of art objects of the Design Center.

The winners of the competition - Maxim Nizov and Maria Surkova from St. Petersburg - developed in their project the theme of “parasitism” that was originally laid down in the TK, because it was a question of an extension growing over an existing building. Their showroom resembles a mushroom perched above the bomb shelter's "pencil case" and beautifully hanging a "leg" -stairs. Two floors are given to offices, in the basement there is a utility room and rooms for staff.

Thanks to its bionic shape, the building looks like a spectacular sculpture wrapped in wooden “pixels”. The lattice surface - and the lattice of the timber is applied directly to the glass - made it possible to solve the problem with lighting: the premises do not know the lack of daylight, since the walls are actually half of windows. In addition, the extension has a fully glazed end. In one version of the project, the authors preserve the natural color and texture of wood on the facades, in another they propose to paint the "mushroom" white, and decorate the base with graffiti, which, perhaps, will even better fit into the style of the Design Center.

The Moscow team consisting of Dmitry Chernyshov, Evgenia Alt, Alexander Sadovsky and Vitaly Alt received the prize from Velux for the most interesting solution for the use of natural lighting. The authors contrasted the chaotic building of the plant with a protoform of a barn, focusing on the combination of transparent and material surfaces in it.

The frame of the extension is made of timber, and the space between the rafters is partially filled with wood and partially glazed - it's easy to guess that there is a showroom behind the transparent walls. At the end, above the black pencil case of the bomb shelter, there is a light terrace. The end is covered with wooden sun shutters that can be opened to make the southern part of the annex completely transparent.

Moscow architects also received one more special prize from ProjectNEXT. Yaroslav Kovalchuk and Evgeny Shirinyan, like the previous team, presented the showroom in the form of a protoform, only instead of a barn they designed a house under a gable roof, in which even the elements of the order can be seen. The modesty of the protoform is compensated by a combination of various textures - wood, brick and greenery. The extension is divided into two halves - a translucent timber frame structure with a two-story veranda and an opaque one with small windows. The entrance to the bomb shelter is indicated by a veranda entwined with grapes.

And finally, the audience award, based on the results of online voting, went to Evgeniy Trifan from Chisinau for an object in the spirit of the 1920s. The audience, apparently, was attracted by the fact that this extension resembles the slender geometric designers Yakov Chernikhov and Ilya Golosov. Around the central vertical wall with the company logo, "bars" of rooms with vertical and horizontal glazing, console balconies and a staircase on cables are formed, overhang and adhered. At the same time, the structures are wooden, which makes the project similar to the exhibition pavilions of Konstantin Melnikov.
