The office building will employ 1,700 Adidas designers, researchers, developers and marketers. In plan, it forms a closed shape, reminiscent of a bow or figure eight. The premises face panoramic windows both on the green landscape of the campus and inward - into the spacious atrium. To make it easier to move around the structure, the architects proposed a lace motif (hence the name of the building: laces). The lacing of the sneakers resembles bridges diagonally crossing the atrium, allowing you to immediately get from one department to another, and not bypass the body around the perimeter.
Adidas LACES is the largest building on the campus, combining all the others with its active shape with sharp corners and a bright black and white facade solution.
The building is even greener than the German law requires: the transparent ceiling of the atrium is made of ETFE polymer pillows, covered with opaque dots to prevent overheating from the sun's rays. It requires almost no cleaning and weighs very little. Triple-glazed windows help to maintain the optimum temperature and humidity in the interior. The concrete part of the roof is green, 28 wells were dug under the building for a thermal pump, the atrium is illuminated with energy-efficient LED lights (in the form of a continuous 750-meter strip), rainwater is used in bathrooms and lawns, etc.
