This structure of emphatically simplified forms should set off the forests and lakes located around. Dramaticism of its silhouette will be given by the supports thinning downwards, set at an angle to the surface of the earth. The dimensions of the slope (its height will be 135 m) will make it the largest structure in Sweden, and will also allow hosting the World Ski Championships - the only one of all 30 such structures existing in the world today.
The idea of the project is due to the decrease in the amount of snow that fell in Sweden during the winter in recent years. The sports complex, named Skipark 360 °, will include not only the slope, but also a 3.5 km cross-country tunnel, a stadium for biathlon, ice hockey and figure skating, and a snow park for snowboarders. Also planned are cafes, shops, spa, hotel and conference center. The total area of Skipark 360 ° will be 70,000 m2, with a budget of 1.5-2 billion Swedish kronor (167-222 million euros).
The slope is an hour's drive away for 3.5 million residents of Stockholm and its surroundings, in addition, Arlanda airport and the European highway E18 are nearby. Construction is scheduled to begin at the turn of 2013–2014 and finish two years later.
