The project involves the construction of a building with a plan in the form of an irregular triangle; all of its corners will be shaped like cantilever stems. A courtyard will be arranged in the center, and a kindergarten, a hostel and an office complex, respectively, will be located in three corners.
The courtyard is a public space with a garden and lawns, which will smoothly merge into the green roof-terrace of the kindergarten and will be connected to the hostel's balconies.
According to the architects, the placement of institutions of three different types in the corners of the triangle allows each of them to combine maximum "privacy" with proximity to each other and continuity of spaces; this technique transforms the Lille Youth Center and its courtyard into a kind of "serenity" in the urban environment.
The youth center will be located in the Euralille district, the commercial center of the city, built up according to the master plan of Rem Koolhaas - the third largest and most important business zone in France.
The project budget is 12.15 million euros.
