The library was named MABIC - "Maranello Biblioteca Cultura". By its function, it is something like a cultural and social center. Its 3-blade volume is occupied by the library itself with shelves of books, video and audio materials, a reading room and a multifunctional space, as well as a book depository and administration premises. Some of them are located below ground level.
Above the ground, the flat-roofed building rises only one floor; in addition, it is surrounded on three sides by a high wall, hiding its uncompromisingly "modern" appearance from the historical surroundings. The facades of the library itself are mostly made of glass, so the not very attractive wall-fence will be closed from the inside (and from the outside) by climbing plants - so it will be attractive to both visitors and passers-by.
To provide natural light in the interior, the space between the fence and the facades was turned into a shallow pond, the surface of which reflects the sun's rays into the reading room. White floors, ceilings and furniture contribute to this lighting pattern.
