The new buildings, all timber-framed, will be part of the existing Swatch Group complex in Biel, in the Swiss canton of Bern. For future expansion, the company's management acquired plots of land around, so the three new buildings will be partly located within the historical boundaries of the "campus" (there are registered monuments of industrial architecture), and partly outside it.
The most notable structure will be the new Swatch headquarters: it is in the form of a long, winding pipe with a timber frame protruding from the façade. An ETFE membrane will be inserted into its diamond-shaped cells, as well as cross-shaped solar panels, from a distance resembling the Swatch Group logo. On the "campus" side there will be a store and showrooms, in the middle - offices, at the outer end - a warehouse, a delivery and assembly area.
The "snake" of the Swatch building will be connected by a bridge over the street to the "central building": this elongated rectangular block, raised on pylons, will house the Swatch, Omega and Swatchmobile museums, as well as offices and a conference room in a circular volume on top of the building.
The third building is the Omega building with various workshops, educational and exhibition spaces, and offices. The project includes a route for excursions to introduce the production process.
