Competition curator Anton Kochurkin:
“The organizers of the competition received 227 projects from 35 countries. The jury's work took place in two stages. The first stage resulted in a long list of 20 projects. It includes works, noted primarily for the depth of the idea. The criterion of the project's feasibility at the first stage was not the main one. According to one of the jury members Boris Bernasconi, in addition to the noted criteria, “it was important to select good samples, examples of such objects that could appear in Nikola-Lenivets”.
The short list has already included the works selected on the basis of compliance with the terms of reference of the competition. The only exception was the 'Sousveillance project. Under Big Brother's', which only partially meets the specified parameters of the Belvedere. At the same time, the "floating lens" is a completely new type of gazebo, without cumbersome implementation into the environment, which explains the choice of the jury.
The organizers would like to thank all participants in the competition for original and ingenious solutions. The shortlisted participants will continue to work on competitive projects in order to finalize the design solution and improve such characteristics as the manufacturability and efficiency of the structure. And already at the beginning of March the jury will choose the only winning project”.
We publish the works included in the shortlist of the competition:
Project under the motto 6893ХХ1 (name not specified) Benjamin Reynolds, Valle Medina (Great Britain)

Belveder Air project. Bureau K O N T O R A / Dmitry Baryudin, Igor Aparin (Russia)
From the project description:
“Intangible architecture and disorientation for a beautiful view. Simple, iconic shape of a round tower with a perimeter spiral staircase and a circular panoramic view in the direction of travel. Crown of Love. Jimenez Lai, Bureau Spectacular (USA)

Dacha Tower. Chloe Lam Shang Leen, Theodore Molloy, Steven Wilkinson (UK)

Sousveillance. Under Big Brother's Skirt. Royce Mar H. Nicdao, WTA Architecture and Design Studio (Philippines)

The spiral. Bureau MADETOGETHER (Russia)
From the project description:
“The Belvedere is a double spiral staircase - for descent and ascent. As you climb, a person sees a panorama of the landscape. The upper platform is located at a height of 28 meters. The bar and stage are in a free-standing light structure."
Bell tower. "A-B Studio", Andrey Savin, Mikhail Labazov (Russia)
From the project description:
“The main material is round timber. Steel brackets are used for connections. There are wooden stairs inside."
