At the exit press conference, which took place on the Khodynskoye Pole, it was announced the start of a new architectural competition initiated by the Moscow Architecture Committee and the INTECO group of companies. The purpose of the competition is to find the best architectural, planning and volumetric-spatial solution for the park, which will be located on the territory of the former central airfield named after M. V. Frunze - and this is about 40 hectares.

Before the airfield was built on Khodynka at the beginning of the 20th century, this place was one of the main venues for festivities and all kinds of exhibitions, and since 1834 there was even a Moscow hippodrome here. In 2003, when the airfield was closed, Khodynka began to be gradually built up. There was an idea to create an aviation museum on the site of the former airfield, but then this idea was abandoned.

Today it was decided that Khodynka should return to its origins and become a resting place for Muscovites. It is assumed that the park will be relatively quiet, in contrast to large city parks such as Sokolniki. However, in the near future, several centers of attraction will appear around in the near future, including cultural objects. Thus, the National Center for Contemporary Art will be built here, and the Moscow Metro, in addition to the new metro station, the construction of which will be completed by 2015, plans to build its own museum on Khodynka. In addition, a shopping center is being built next to the park. The park itself will have playgrounds for children's games, sports, social and cultural events. However, the layout of the new park is intended to protect the surrounding residential areas from crowds and crowds of fans during matches at the nearby stadium.

Sergei Kuznetsov told reporters that the issue of placing the park on the Khodynskoye field has been finally resolved: “It will be a landscape park, in which the main territory will be given over to greenery. But it should also have a minimum number of infrastructure facilities that ensure the normal functioning of the park in the mode of year-round use. However, the park will not bear any engineering and architectural load”.

The competition is open to everyone, there are practically no restrictions. Sergey Kuznetsov emphasized that, in comparison with other competitions, here, as in the NCCA competition, one can pass to the second round not only on the basis of the portfolio, but also according to the proposed concept.

The competition will be held in two stages: at the first stage, either a portfolio or a concept is submitted, from which five best portfolios and five best concepts will be selected. The ten finalists will then develop the concept for the park.

The results of the competition will be announced in March 2014.
