We are talking about a new building on the site of the former Yunost factory: the developer plans to occupy the main part of the territory with an area of 1 hectare with offices and other commercial objects, but 2 thousand m2 is still allocated for the cultural component. The task of the educational competition of ideas set one condition for the program - in the future building there should be a hall for chamber music concerts. Note that none of the competitive projects is expected to be implemented.
Pomino hall, Dmitry Aranchiy and his colleagues proposed to place a “literary” space in the cultural center for holding seminars, conferences, meetings of readers and writers, poets and publicists, as the need for such a place in Kiev is felt. The auditorium for such events is located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the building. In addition, the first level houses a literary research center, a bookstore, a library / media library, a ticket office, an information center and a tour desk, as well as lounge areas and a coffee shop, which should become a popular place for informal communication. From there you can get to both the 125-seat concert hall and the production center and recording studio.
On the second and third floors, it is proposed to arrange both temporary exhibition halls with mobile partitions and a permanent exhibition. Moreover, architects understand that it is difficult to create a collection of first-class works from scratch, so they offer either to take exhibits on a long-term lease, or to attract a private art lover who wants to make his collection available to the general public - citing as an example the history of the Thyssen-Bornemisza collection, now exhibited in Madrid …
An educational center is also planned on the third floor, and administrative and utility rooms and a parking lot on the minus first level. A special role is played by the courtyard, which is partially covered by cantilevers on the upper floors: there you can organize outdoor exhibitions, performances and any other events.
The abstractly interpreted gable roof is consistent with both climatic conditions and the surrounding buildings, while the facades are covered with a national Ukrainian ornament made of flowers-stars, reworked in accordance with the theory of fractals.
