Faith & Form / IFRAA 2013 is a major award in the field of religious architecture and design, with a history dating back to 1978. The jury will consider the architecture of religious buildings, their design, landscape solutions of the territory and works of sacred art in four respective nominations. Another nomination is unrealized projects (last year the BIG bureau project became the winner in this category).

Urbanism and territorial development
Participants of the "Best Minipolis" competition are invited to create a residential area in Khimki near Moscow: a cozy, comfortable, "sustainable" space for life, work and leisure. Particular attention should be paid to the development of infrastructure, public areas and amenities. The work of the participants will be evaluated in three nominations: "Planning organization of the Minipolis", "Architectural and spatial solutions in the infrastructure", "Improvement".

Ideas competition
The interaction between the shell of a building and its “contents”, external and internal space, is a topic that has long occupied the minds of architects. The organizers of the "Skin" competition invite participants to think once again about what the "skin" of a modern building can be like. You can take a new building as a basis or reconstruct an old one. The typology and location of the building are also left to the discretion of the contestants. The organizers ask you to pay special attention to the use of metal or combined (metal + other material) elements in the design of the facade.

The ArchTriumph Internet platform announced three parallel architectural competitions at once. In one of them, participants are invited to design a new athletics stadium in Brasilia, in another - a pedestrian bridge over the Spree River in Berlin, and in the third - a temporary floating pavilion for the Venice Biennale. Of course, all three projects should not only be functional, but also look original.

The province of Mendoza in Argentina is an area rich in vineyards. The organizers of the competition decided to use this feature.
“Art Quarter in Mendoza”, inviting the participants to design a park, a resort complex and a recreation space in the selected area, with an emphasis on winemaking as part of the entertainment program. In the first stage (and the competition is held in two stages), participants must develop a project for a restaurant in the countryside, meeting places in the city of Mendoza, as well as artwork for these two spaces. However, the organizers of the competition do not promise to implement the winner's project, limiting themselves to a prize of 15,000 dollars.

Looking forward to implementation
The Van Alen Institute is celebrating its 120th anniversary next year. It was decided to coincide with this significant event
competition for the design and reorganization of the ground and basement floor space of its headquarters. The area of just over 300 m2 should accommodate exhibition spaces, venues for lectures and master classes, office space, as well as the famous Van Alen Books bookstore. It is planned to start repair work in accordance with the winner's project in winter 2013. The competition is two-phase: at the first stage of the competition, participants must submit their portfolio.

The FSC Green Architecture competition is part of the Green Project 2013 festival. The participants will have to develop projects, the main condition of which is the use of wood and timber in construction and decoration. Another competition, whose tasks include solving the problem of adaptation of older people in the modern world - "Society for all ages." The organizers propose to develop a center in which this category of citizens could live, relax, study and work. China hosts the Architecture Transformation: Disappearance competition, in which participants are encouraged to reflect on “disappearing architecture,” when the boundaries between landscape and architecture, the physical body and incorporeality, between presence and absence are blurred. The organizers remained faithful to the theme of the competition until the end and did not set any more "boundaries" and conditions: the contestants themselves have to develop for themselves the terms of reference, the typology of the building and choose its location in the urban environment.

San Francisco today has one of the most advanced fire protection systems in the United States, with 51 fire stations in the city of 800,000. Despite this, in San Francisco there is no single Fire Department that could coordinate the actions of all these depots and get involved in the work in especially difficult situations. It is such a center that will be designed by the participants of the competition. The location of the future building on the shore of the bay and the historical implications (San Francisco was practically destroyed by a fire in 1906, which began with an earthquake) suggests that the Fire Center will also become an architectural symbol of the city.

Restoration / reconstruction
The tallest abandoned building in the world, it turns out, is located in Yekaterinburg - this is an unfinished television tower 220 meters high. This fact is not a reason for pride, therefore, it was decided to hold a competition, the purpose of which was the reconstruction and renovation of the building: the tower is planned to be adapted for a public or business center, as well as to improve the adjacent territory. These tasks are to be solved by the participants of the competition. The main prize is worthy: 1,000,000 rubles, but it's worth hurrying up - the dead-line for submitting projects is very soon.

Research and publications
After Hurricane Sandy, many people whose homes were damaged by the disaster left the disaster area, and new homes in place of the destroyed ones began to appear in an uncontrolled way. These circumstances can disrupt the formed fabric of coastal cities. The 3C Competition: Comprehensive Coastal Communities aims to develop ideas that will help rebuild affected cities, preserve their structure and flavor, and prepare them for future disasters. Participants need to carry out serious research work, the result of which will be concrete proposals for the development of a prototype of a residential building that meets all the technical requirements put forward.

The face of the firm
Ceresit has announced a competition for the best wet façade. The purpose of the creative competition is to demonstrate the breadth and variability of the application of this type of finish in modern architecture.
