On the alleys and lawns of Gorky Park on Vorobyevskaya embankment, there are several kiosk houses with flower beds on the roofs. Here the company "Tsinko RUS" together with the Park launched an interesting green project: on pitched roofs, on top of waterproofing, green roofs of the Sedum system and the Blooming Meadow system were installed.
The Sedum system is a greening system with low-growing plants and a substrate height of 60 mm. Sedums and other perennials are designed to create a solid green or multi-colored (several colors) cover. And with the help of the "Blooming Meadow" system, the roof can be given an individual character. With extensive gardening, drought-resistant perennials are planted, such as a medium-sized carnation up to 400 mm high, pleasing to the eye with its flowering from spring to late autumn, and other flowers. These plants do not require special care after they are planted on the roof.
The most important thing is that the design solution of the Sedum and Blooming Meadow systems is easy and inexpensive to operate. After the installation of such roofs, further operation takes place with minimal human participation - 1-2 times a year!
Alexey Veinsky, a specialist in roof gardening, a member of the Union of Architects, General Director of Tsinko RUS, and Anna Zhuravleva, a landscape architect of the company, told the Morning program (Moscow-24 channel) about preparing roofs for planting plants in more detail.
Alexey Veinsky spoke in detail about why it is impossible to use just earth in green roofing systems, but you need to take a special substrate, how to correctly calculate the height of the cells of the system in order to ensure drainage and make a drainage immediately into the gutters, about "pies" and other green elements roofs.
