Using the technology of the German company Flachdach Technologie (FDT) - the leader in the production of polymer roofing membranes in Europe - a new generation roofing has been created, devoid of drawbacks and architectural restrictions. Polymer membranes are a modern roofing material that has traditionally been used for flat roofs or roofs with a low slope of the surface. Later, manufacturers thought about a wider scope of their application. Solutions have been developed for any roof structure, including pitched and complex geometries. On the Russian market, FDT polymer roofing membranes are represented by the Red Roofs company. The company's specialists are confident that durable and proven polymer materials will be able to compete with folded metal roofing.

Rhenofol and Rhepanol roofing membrane systems

Modern polymer roofing is offered in two versions: from PVC membranes already familiar to Russian consumers and polyisobutylene. The Rhenofol plasticized PVC roofing membrane system is more commonly used in industrial construction. But thanks to a large assortment of membranes with a wide range of lengths, widths and a rich color palette, such roofs can be used on a variety of objects of any complexity. The polymer membrane is easy to design and operate, has high waterproofing properties, does not fade in the sun and retains its aesthetic characteristics for many years. Rhenofol is offered in two versions: Rhenofol CV and Rhenofol CG.

FDT manufactures Rhepanol membranes from polyisobutylene. This system is presented both in the classic version - Rhepanol fk, and in the version Rhepanol hg, specially designed for green roofs. Polyisobutylene is a synthetic rubber that provides maximum roof tightness. Moreover, it is an environmentally friendly and safe material. Suffice it to say that medical adhesive plaster and even chewing gum are made from it. The polyisobutylene membranes are ecobalanced by the C. A. U. GmbH, and the environmental product declaration issued by the Bauen und Umwelt e.v.

Benefits of polyisobutylene

The polyisobutylene membrane was invented in 1939. Around the same time, the first building with this roof covering was built in Leopoldshafen. Today it is the oldest polymer roofing in the world, and for all the years of operation it did not require a single repair. Reliability and durability are the qualities that distinguish polymer roofing from other types of soft and metal roofs. Its certified service life is from 40 years.

Polyisobutylene is not only durable. Considering the service life, this material is economically more profitable than traditional steel, copper, aluminum or zinc-titanium rebates. Installation work and a complete set of a roof made of polymer membranes will be cheaper, and all passages through the roof will be more technological and reliable, since the seams are not rolled, but welded. Installation does not require the use of an expensive volumetric-diffusion fed membrane, which also allows significant savings. In addition, unlike metal, polyisobutylene has a low coefficient of thermal expansion. Its wind resistance is 250 kg / m². Another significant difference from the metal fold, with all the visual similarity, is sound insulation. Polymer roofing does not make noise during rain or hail, providing peace and quiet to the owners of the house.

Installation technology

The roofing membrane for waterproofing flat roofs allows installation to be carried out easily and quickly enough. Rhepanol fk has a self-adhesive edge with an integrated high-strength geotextile. Prefabricated fittings such as outer and inner corners and cuffs are also self-adhesive, which simplifies seam sealing and ensures a secure and durable connection.

Unlimited architectural possibilities

This material has high plastic properties and remains flexible even at temperatures of –60 ° C. It can be used both for flat roofs (slope angle - from 2 degrees), and for pitched or radius roofs with complex geometry. At the same time, the amount of waste material will be minimized. There are many examples where, due to the plastic properties of the material, it was possible to build roofs of the most unusual shape - smoothly curved, bionic, domed.

Full imitation of copper and steel seam and fantastic possibilities of making membranes in RAL colors

A wide color palette of membranes also offers great architectural possibilities. In addition, manufacturers are always ready to meet the client's needs. So, for a specific object, membranes of any color from the RAL palette can be made to order, regardless of the volume of construction. There are also completely unique color solutions developed by the FDT company and are a matter of special pride for manufacturers. For example, the natural copper shade of the roof, which even acquires a natural patina over time. This innovative FDT development is not found in any other manufacturer.

Thanks to the use of polyisobutylene, the manufacturer managed to increase the strength, ductility and service life of the roof several times. The relatively inexpensive and aesthetically highly attractive material opens up new possibilities for designers, guaranteeing the quality and durability of the result.
