More than 70 applications were submitted for the Moscow Restoration competition organized by the Department of Cultural Heritage of the city of Moscow this year. Restoration and design workshops, engineering and production organizations, owners and tenants of cultural heritage sites in Moscow, who completed restoration work at the sites in the period from 2012 to 2013, fought for the title of the best in the field of preserving architectural monuments. All works were divided into the following categories: urban estates; objects of civil architecture; objects of cult architecture; objects of monumental art; archaeological heritage sites and preservation of the historical environment of cultural heritage sites.
The competition included six main nominations: for the best restoration project and adaptation to modern use; for the high quality of repair and restoration work; for the best organization of repair and restoration work; for research work and / or scientific and methodological guidance; for organizing and conducting archaeological research; for scientific and methodological guidance of archaeological research.
Based on the results of the evaluation of the works, the competition committee determined 34 laureates of the competition for 18 objects of cultural heritage (some objects won in several nominations at once). Among the laureates and holders of four special prizes for projects dedicated to the popularization of historical and cultural monuments of the capital.
