Today, December 12, at a press conference at the NCCA, three finalists of the competition for the best architectural solution of the museum and exhibition complex of the National Center for Contemporary Art were announced. The jury selected the following teams:
- Heneghan Peng Architects,
- Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos,
- a piece of chalk
The first two teams took part in the competition in the Dossier category, and Chalk in the Sketch category. Denis Leontyev, General Director of KB Strelka emphasized: The “Mixed Competition Scheme” fully justified itself, made it possible for both experienced and young specialists to take part, and also demonstrated that a new generation of talented architects who can compete with them have appeared in Russia. renowned international bureau ". As Sergei Kuznetsov said during the press conference, all three finalists received an equal number of votes from the jury, and this is "pure coincidence: the meetings were held in a very dense mode, the discussions lasted two days."
Now it's up to the NCCA Board of Trustees: it is he who must determine which of the three finalists will become the final winner of the competition. The council includes the head of the Moscow Department of Culture Sergei Kapkov, the chief architect of Moscow Sergei Kuznetsov, Deputy Minister of Culture Ivan Demidov, heads of Moscow institutions of contemporary art (Olga Sviblova, Vasily Tsereteli, Anton Belov) and businessmen-patrons (Leonid Lebedev, Mark Garber, Dmitry Aksenov, Vladimir Smirnov, Leonid Fridlyand).
We remind you that the competition was held according to the "mixed selection" system. The solutions for the new building were developed by 10 participants: five teams that submitted qualification applications (dossiers) and five teams that submitted preliminary architectural concepts for the museum.
The competition was organized by the "New Art" Foundation for the Support of Contemporary Art, commissioned by the NCCA. Competition consultant - Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design.
