In June 2013, ROCKWOOL announced a competition called "Stone becomes Art" to develop a new design for ROCKPANEL products - "stone-look" façade slabs. The main requirement was not to imitate the surface of a stone existing in nature, but to create a new, creative interpretation of it. Applications for participation were accepted until August 31.
The jury received 55 original projects from different countries, including 17 works from Russia. The top three projects had to meet several criteria:
- uniqueness and creativity of design;
- aesthetic standards;
- feasibility;
- variety of forms;
- popularity in ROCKPANEL communities - you could express your opinion and vote for your favorite design on the competition website, ROCKPANEL page on Facebook and Twitter.
Based on the submitted applications, an international jury of design and architecture experts selected three finalists: Puzzled project by Marit Oto, Holland; Golden Age of Ronnie Chopera and Francis Adler (Kollektiv A), Germany; Volcano by Roman Baudisch, Germany.
It will be announced at the opening ceremony of the new ROCKPANEL production line in Roermond (Holland) on October 10, 2013, which of them will be the winner, and who will take the second and third places.
