Photo: www.revistaunidade.com The road itself is an element that destroys the natural environment. Along major roads, as a rule, there are only buildings and structures in which you can buy essential items or get technical assistance.

The aim of the competition is to design a service station with a petrol station located on the section of road no. 14 connecting the cities of Porto and Braga. In addition to the shops, cafes and car washes traditionally located in such buildings, the organizers decided to place here an exhibition hall with workshops for artists and a flower greenhouse. This was done in order to reveal the potential of the territories around major highways and give them some kind of cultural value.

On the territory with which the contestants will work, there are now a number of abandoned buildings. They can be demolished or left - at the discretion of the participants. Only the industrial pipe is asked to save.

Tolbukhinsky bridge. Illustration courtesy of the organizers. Have you ever wondered what is usually located under bridges? More often than not, nothing remarkable! It turns out that large urban areas are unused and unnecessary. Illustration: www.ribacompetitions.com The objectives of the competition are to improve the design of the passenger rolling stock of the UK rail network, address current challenges and detailed long-term development plans.

The competition is divided into two parts: in the first, the participants are invited to develop the design of the rolling stock, in the second - the interior of this train.

In the first part of the competition, the contestants must solve the following tasks: reducing operating costs, doubling capacity, reducing the negative impact on the environment and increasing customer satisfaction by increasing comfort.

In the "interior" part of the competition, it is necessary to take into account that the interior design of the train may vary depending on the class of the car (standard, business, premium) and the travel distance. It is also worth considering ergonomic characteristics, the accessibility of parts of the carriage for disabled people or children, and the novelty of design solutions.

You can participate in each part of the competition separately, or try your hand at each "sub-competition".
