For Archistudio, which has been supplying the best Italian furniture to Russia for over 20 years, the season begins with exhibitions: a furniture showroom in Milan and LIGHT & BUILDING in Frankfurt. Within the framework of both exhibitions, bright and memorable stands of the Archistudio partner factories were presented, as well as many extra-exhibition events dedicated to the presentation of collections and discussion of the latest trends in the field of furniture design.
Milan was dubbed the furniture capital for a reason; every spring during the salon, Milan turns into a real city of furniture. Hundreds of expositions showcase a wide variety of design findings - from classic to modern. The first salon was held in Milan back in 1961, and since then this large-scale event has constantly brought together the leaders of the world furniture industry, leading and largest manufacturers and famous designers under one roof. It is here that everyone interested in interior design can find the best of what exists on the global market.
This year, world-famous designers were involved in creating the most comfortable and aesthetically expressive interior items. Famous furniture factories such as Poltrona Frau, Cassina, Cappellini and ERNESTOMEDA - brands that thanks to Archistudio have long been very popular on the Russian market, delighted visitors with many spectacular novelties. Here you could see incredible beds, more like a sculptural work of art, and surprisingly laconic and at the same time eye-catching wooden furniture made of rare species, and practical options for kitchen furniture. Legendary furniture models have also been reinterpreted and given new life, such as the Albero library by designer Gianfranco Frattini or the Indochine swivel chair, which is a new wooden version of Charlotte Perrian's small LC7 armchair.
We present a brief overview of the new products from the factories demonstrated in Milan.
Novelties from Poltrona Frau
In the Mamy Blue bed, designer Roberto Lazzeroni has tamed large shapes with soft, rounded lines. This half bed, half sculpture is meant to be the central figure in the room.
The debut of the collaboration of designer Rodolfo Dordoni with Poltrona Frau was the Jobs workplace for the manager: desktops in Easy, Executive and President versions are complemented by closed and open modules.
Poltrona Frau also made a reprint of the little-known but nonetheless iconic Albero library, which in the late 1950s. created by Gianfranco Frattini.
Cassina designer finds
Cassina and Jaime Ayon have unveiled a new two- and three-seat sofa and armchair Vico, named after the designer's son. They embody the inner desire of a person for comfort. This furniture just resembles a cozy nest where you can relax and forget about everything.
Another eye-catching novelty is the Indochine swivel chair, made of wood, but which is an interpretation of the famous LC7 small armchair with a steel tube frame, which Charlotte Perriand created in 1927, before her meeting with Le Corbusier.
Torei tables, created in 2012 by Luca Nichetto for Cassina, have also taken on new shapes: today they are not only rectangular, but also square, triangular and round.
At the Cassina stand, one could also see the well-known Maralunga sofa, created with the light hand of the great Vico Magisterry. And the appearance of this sofa at the stand was not accidental: this year it turns 40 years old.
Unique furniture Cappellini
On the creation of the factory presented at the Milan exhibition
Designed by Nendo, the Cappellini Peg sofas and chaise longue are inspired by the soft and comfortable shape of the Peg Armchair. This furniture is offered with a solid ash base. Various options are available here - bleached ash, stained walnut, stained wenge or black stained ash. In addition, a non-removable base cover and removable fabric and leather pillow covers are available for furniture.
The Pipe Drink trolley is based on the original 1968 prototype design. Kumato Design Studio helped to recreate its structure and proportions.
Other highlights include Meltdown in new floor and table versions, Branch desk in new finishes, and more.
The SOUL model and the new interpretation of the ICON model by Ernestomeda
Ernestomeda, the market leader in high-end designer kitchens, has unveiled the new SOUL model and the new ICON layout at the Eurocucina 2014 kitchen fair at I Saloni in Milan. The design of both kitchens is the result of the work of the talented designer Giuseppe Bavuso.
The SOUL concept is a fusion of modern design trends with vintage elements. The new fitted kitchen has a modern character but borrows style and materials from the past. One example of this combination is the monobloc washbasin, which can be made of steel, ICONcrete and Corian.®and can also have new finishes Piasentina Stone, Brown Chocolate Stone and Santafiora Stone, reminiscent of the drainage troughs once found in the gardens of country villas.
In the development of the new model, Ernestomeda collaborated with Molteni Vernici to create a new NANOCERAMIC NTE ™ finishing technology that uses nanotechnology. This innovative method protects surfaces from dampness, salt corrosion, thermal shock, chemicals, hot and cold foods and liquids, household chemicals, artificial lighting and aging. The new Icon structure variants embody the key features of the program: from the AIR door to the EVOLUTION peninsula, from the FLEX wall unit to the INDOOR cupboards, which are offered with new interior accessories. But the main novelty lies precisely in the innovative and very durable finish: in addition to nanoceramic processing, Piasentina Stone is used for the front panels of the AIR doors and for the SET LIVING AREA PROGRAM worktops.
