The Challenge of Time Prize was founded in 2005 and has been awarded every two years since then. This year, the award will be held for the fifth time, it was curated by a Japanese architect, one of the founders of the metabolism movement Fumihiko Maki. The competition was attended by 108 nominees from 29 countries, selected by 22 experts. Experts have identified ten of the most prominent architects and architectural studios.
Out of the top ten, an international jury consisting of Alejandro Aravena (Chile), Evgeny Assa (Russia), Georgy Stanishev (Bulgaria), Hjetil Thorsen (Norway) and Andrey Chernikhov (Russia) chose the winner - Ensamble Studio.
