An impressive number of new buildings were erected for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. Many of them are insulated with TECHNONICOL stone wool materials.

The main media center of the Olympiad

For the work of representatives of TV and radio companies, newspapers, magazines and news agencies during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the building of the Main Media Center of the Olympics was built with an area of more than 158,000 square meters. It was built in close proximity to the Olympic Park. The authors of the project were the architects of the famous SPEECH bureau. The building of the media center is equipped with all the necessary specialized premises: studios, conference rooms, control rooms and auxiliary rooms.

During the construction of the Main Media Center of the Olympics in Sochi, heat-insulating materials made of TECHNONICOL stone wool were used to insulate a flat roof. For the TN-ROOF Classic system, 25,000 m³ of TECHNOROOF B60, TECHNOROOF N30 and TECHNOROOF N30 KLIN boards were used. An innovative solution using TECHNOROOF N30 WEDGE stone wool slabs made it possible to quickly and easily create a slope for drainage of rainwater. This material is already cut with a slope in production so that it can be stacked in a certain order, like elements of a constructor. Thanks to this, the speed of installation operations increases dramatically, significantly reducing labor costs when installing a roof. The described slope-forming layer avoids water accumulation, effectively exploits the roof, while increasing its service life.

In addition to the media center itself, there is a 600-bed hotel on the territory. Both buildings were designed by one architectural studio - SPEECH. The hotel complex uses a flat roof system with a protective screed with TECHNOROOF material, and the sound comfort of this facility is provided by TECHNOACUSTIK stone wool insulation.

Multifunctional complex "Actor-Galaxy"

Residential 30-storey

Actor Galaxy complex of 674 apartments was built according to the project of SPEECH bureau. It is located very close to the sea and is surrounded by a parkland.

In the cold season, due to their low thermal conductivity, TECHNOFAS slabs retain heat in the building, and in summer they protect the walls from heating by the sun, which allows residents to enjoy a comfortable indoor microclimate throughout the year.

Russian International Olympic University (RIOU)

This university trains future specialists in the field of sports management. The university building has successfully passed certification for compliance with the requirements of the international environmental standard BREEAM with a rating of “Very Good” (56.69%). During construction and finishing, energy-saving lighting devices and heating and ventilation equipment for dual purposes were installed: in warm weather it works for cooling, in winter - for heating. Drinking and technical water pipelines are separated here; collection of rain and melt water is organized for lawn irrigation. The building uses modern thermal insulation materials made of TECHNONICOL stone wool: the system of the ventilated facade TN-FASAD VENT at this facility consists of TECHNOVENT STANDARD and TECHNOLIGHT OPTIMA slabs. The total volume of supplied stone wool was 1,500 m³.

The service life of the TN-FASAD VENT system reaches 60 years, depending on the materials of the subsystem. The TN-FASAD VENT system has a number of advantages. So, the mechanical fastening of the facing layer makes it easy to change the panels to new ones if they are damaged. Due to the absence of "wet" processes, installation work is not limited by seasonality. The special design of the subsystem compensates for unevenness in the wall, ensuring that the surface of the building wall is always perfectly flat. In addition, the TN-FASAD VENT facade system is recognized as an economically profitable solution due to the use of two types of thermal insulation of different densities.

Six plants of the TECHNONICOL Corporation produce more than 550,000 tons of basalt insulation per year, which is supplied to facilities, including those of special importance, in many regions of the Russian Federation. The high quality of TECHNONICOL thermal insulation is confirmed by the Rosizol Quality Mark (Association of Russian manufacturers of modern mineral insulation).
