The RIBA Manser Medal is awarded annually by the Royal Institute of British Architects to the best new private home or major addition to a private home in the UK. The award was created in 2001 and is named after the architect Michael Manser, former president of RIBA, known for his remarkable private home designs. In 2015, the RIBA Manser Medal is sponsored by the international specialized insurance company Hiscox.
This year's nominees include projects ranging from the renovation of an abandoned farm in the Scottish Highlands (The Mill) and the self-built Dundon Passivhaus, an incredibly energy efficient home in Somerset, to a four shipping container home in Londonderry, North Ireland.
