The Saint-Gobain acoustics business under the Ecophon brand is committed to sustainability and uses more than 70% recycled glass in fiberglass. So, from one recycled glass bottle, you can get 1.5 acoustic panels. No harmful chemicals are used in the production: the panels are painted with water-based paints made from safe materials. No antibacterial ingredients or formaldehyde are added to the products, as Ecophon materials are resistant to bacteria, fungi and mold.

The new binder saves up to 24,000 barrels of oil each year from which the old binder was made, and eliminates the need for chemicals to decompose phenolic compounds when disposing of old panels.

“In the course of scientific developments that led to the creation of a new technology for the production of acoustic materials, scientists came to the conclusion that a plant-based binder not only helps to reduce the environmental load, but also improves the acoustic properties of products: thanks to the new binder, the sound absorption coefficient and class articulation of the materials produced. It is also important that Ecophon products as a whole, and not just individual components, comply with the strictest environmental standards. Instead of launching a separate line of sustainable products, the division's management decided to switch the production of each Ecophon product to sustainable materials, in line with our sustainability goals,”says Mikhail Pokidyshev, Technical Support Manager, Ecophone Business Unit in Russia.

The entire range of Ecophon products now meets the most stringent indoor climate standards: the French Eco-Label (A +) and California Emissions Regulations (CDPH).
