Works of professionals and those who are still studying at the specialized faculty of the university were accepted for the competition. Architects of various degrees of training presented their completed projects and concepts, which so far exist only on paper.
The Eurasian Prize Festival is not limited to a competition: throughout the year various events were held in Yekaterinburg, one way or another related to architecture and design. The organizer - the magazine "LETABURE" - gathered round tables, held master classes, lectures, exhibitions, where they invited specialists from the Ural region, Moscow and from abroad.
The jury of the "Eurasian Prize" this year included Eugene Ass (MARSH), William Olsop (aLL), Nikolay Bersenev and Herve Dessimo (both from the Swiss architectural bureau Groupe-H), Helmut Jan (Chicago bureau Jahn), Yasmina Kaluderovich and Alessandro Condini (LABA Academy of Fine Arts) and other theorists and practitioners of the world of architecture recognized by the professional community. They chose one winner in each of three areas: architecture and urbanism, industrial design, interior and landscape design.
Students were the first to receive their diplomas at the awards ceremony. The organizers decided in this way to highlight the younger generation of architects and designers, emphasizing that they are the ones who broadcast the most interesting ideas. In the category "Architecture" almost all the first places were taken by UralSAA students: Anton Alyakritsky (nomination "Architecture of residential buildings"), Guzel Valieva ("Architecture of public buildings and structures") and Natalya Smirnova ("Architecture of industrial buildings and structures"). Egor Orlov from Kazan became the winner in the Urban Development nomination. The awards were presented to the laureates by the head of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of Yekaterinburg Timur Abdullaev.
In the field of design, UralGAKhA students also surpassed competitors in all three nominations. The jury decided to give an additional first place for the design of the residential interior to the tandem of Georgy Yurishan and Vladislav Karchenkov (Rostov-on-Don). The laureates received their awards from the hands of Yasmina Kaluderovich, a professor at the LABA Academy of Fine Arts and one of the founders of the DNA studio. In the field of industrial design, two out of three diplomas remained in Yekaterinburg and one went to Khanty-Mansiysk.
The awards to the winners in the category "Architecture" among professionals were presented by the head of the architectural bureau Groupe H from Switzerland, Herve Dessimo. The project of a team of architects from Ryazan won in the Urban Development nomination, and Evgeny Gerasimov took the statuette for the architecture of a residential building to St. Petersburg. In the nomination "Architecture of public buildings and structures" the jury members voted for the concept of the cinema and concert hall of the architectural duet Marat Kaskeev and Igor Ermolenko (Penza). In the plane of interior design and industrial design, Yekaterinburg residents again became the leaders, and one prize went to the Moscow tandem.
