This small origami house is located in Ryfylk, Norway's northeastern region. The building turned out to be 100% Norwegian: from its southern side there is a view of the fjord; two studios from the capital of Oslo, Pir II and Resell Arkitektur, worked on the architectural project of the hut. Minera Otta slate, mined near the Norwegian town of the same name, was used as a finishing material. In Russia, there are practically no own deposits of this natural stone, so you rarely see it anywhere, but in Europe it is very popular and is widely used in decoration, decoration and construction.

At first glance, the house in Ryfylka seems entirely hewn out of natural rock with skillfully carved large scales - as if it were the abode of a northern troll. But if you take a closer look, you will find that the residential building is entirely dressed in stone tiles of Norwegian slate. At the same time, clear geometry makes the house compact and light in appearance, and the interior decoration made of wood rhymes with the naturalness of the broken facade-roof and is a continuation of its angular rhythm.

Building in Ryfylka with an area of 120m2 consists of three parts: on the sides of the main volume, two "sleeves" extend at an angle - the curved shape helped the architects to shield and protect from the wind the space of the courtyard well-lit by the sun. On one side of the house are the living room, dining room and kitchen, on the other side there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. For the interior decoration of the walls, floors and ceilings, the authors used ash panels and plywood. The designers managed to preserve the maximum usable area and make the space compact thanks to the integrated furniture “recessed” in the walls of the building. The porch of the residential structure is sheathed with dark acetylated wood - a building material that is treated with acetic anhydride as a preservative.

The dark gray slate slabs on the roof and façade of the building “carve” it into diamonds, making the hut look like a rare cut diamond. The presence of mica in Minera Otta slates gives them a unique appearance and makes them ideal for use in prestigious public and private buildings. Textured and rich in minerals, the rock gives a rich gamut of shades: the manifestation of a particular color depends on the weather and lighting conditions.
