The construction of the new terminal of Astana airport, which began in 2015, is almost completed: in March 2017, it should receive the first passengers. The new terminal, with an area of 45,000 m2, will adjoin the existing building of the international airport of the Kazakh capital, built in 2002-2005 by the project of Kisho Kurokawa as part of the implementation of his own general concept for the development of Astana. The current expansion of the airport is being handled by MabetexGroup, known, among other things, for its participation in projects for the reconstruction of the Moscow Kremlin and the White House - it also implemented the Kurokawa project. With the opening of the new terminal, the airport's capacity should increase from 3 to 7.5 million people per year. The expansion of the airport is timed to the EXPO 2017, which will be held from June 10 to September 10; according to experts' estimates, about 2 million people will visit the capital of Kazakhstan during this time.
Astana is the coldest capital in the world after Ulaanbaatar, with a sharply continental climate, when the city is wrapped in heat in summer and frosty steppe winds in winter. Temperature drops reach from -40 ° to + 40 ° Celsius, and therefore special attention should be paid to thermal protection in the building envelope.
The central part of the airport building resembles the nose of an airplane, and the roofs of the side terminals - and a vortex trail from the turbines, and as if "assembled" from huge flaps - flaps ready for takeoff. Non-combustible stone wool slabs ROCKWOOL RUF BATTS were used to insulate the roof. They provide effective protection against both heat loss and the rapid spread of fire in the event of a fire.
The wide assortment of the ROCKWOOL roofing line makes it possible to take into account the individual characteristics of any, technically, even the most complex object and select thermal insulation boards with the optimal combination of strength characteristics.
The ROCKWOOL CIS division is part of the ROCKWOOL Group of Companies - the world leader in stone wool solutions. The products are used for insulation, sound insulation and fire protection and are intended for all types of buildings and structures, as well as for shipbuilding and industrial equipment. ROCKWOOL provides consulting services in the field of energy efficiency in buildings, supplies system solutions for facade insulation, roofing and fire protection, decorative panels for facades, acoustic suspended ceilings, sound barriers to protect against road noise and anti-vibration panels for railways, Russian production facilities ROCKWOOL are located in the city of Zheleznodorozhny in the Moscow Region, Vyborg in the Leningrad Region, Troitsk in the Chelyabinsk Region and in the Alabuga SEZ in Tatarstan.
