An exhibition of finalists' projects from The Illuminated River, hosted by Malcolm Reading Consultants, will open on November 9 in London. All of them are also published on the competition website. The aim of the competition was to select the best decorative lighting project for 17 London bridges, which in the future will form a year-round free gallery of light installations. Illumination will be especially significant in winter - the river will be able to remain visible, despite the early twilight.
A specially organized Illuminated River Foundation is currently raising funds for the upcoming project. Already raised £ 10 million
The competition was held in two stages. In the first of 105 applications, six teams were selected to develop lighting concepts for the four main bridges - Westminster, London, Chelsea and Waterloo. The finalist teams included 73 participants. Along with well-known large architectural firms, these are artists, designers, planners and engineers from Asia, Europe, North and South America.
We present the shortlisted participants and their projects.
