The winners of the competition for the concept of the development of libraries in the Moscow region have been announced today. The competition was organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Glavarkhitektura of the Moscow Region. Participants were required to develop solutions for the transformation of libraries in the region, including proposals for corporate identity, interior and exterior design and functional content. The goal of the competition is to transform traditional libraries into modern community centers where citizens can spend their time in comfort.
In total, the organizers received 45 applications for participation. After the qualifying round, 8 teams reached the final. The finalists worked on projects for a month. Three libraries were selected as pilot facilities - in the Odintsovo and Taldomsky districts, as well as in Khimki. In the future, the organizers plan on the basis of the winner's proposal to develop a single standard for the modernization of all libraries in the Moscow region.

“The winner's project is called“Access Point”and most fully reflects the essence of the ongoing reloading of libraries. The team came up with a fairly clean and coherent graphical solution based on a dot symbol that accurately characterizes the library space and has a modern twist. The project provides for the formation of a multifunctional space with areas for work, activities, a media library, a children's area and workshops, - the chief architect of the Moscow region Mikhail Khaikin commented on the best concept.
