ROCKWOOL has been providing stone wool solutions for 80 years that ensure the safety and energy efficiency of buildings and structures, constantly improving production technology. In the anniversary year for the company, all ROCKWOOL factories located in Russia have implemented the innovation of the ROCKWOOL International Development Center - Power + technology. Scientific research, which has been carried out over two years, has significantly increased the strength of the product, as well as improved its performance characteristics, offering unprecedented benefits to the consumer.
All 4 factories of the global leader located in Russia have been modernized. As a result of the introduction of Power + technology at Russian production sites, the processes of preparation for production and product management were updated, which led to an improvement in the microdistribution of the binder and the mechanics of bonds between fibers. In addition, the fiber placement technology on the production line has been optimized. The result was an increase in material homogeneity, resulting in a significant improvement in the performance of Rockwool products.
The whole complex of characteristics has been improved, which affects the durability and reliability of the material. In particular, the tensile strength: the 30% increased strength of a number of FASAD products affects, for example, the reliability of façade systems with a thin plaster layer, which experience increased peel stress - for example, in strong winds. Improved point load properties contribute to easier and more reliable installation. In most of the products of the RUF series, this indicator has been improved by 25%. Finally, the compressive strength at relative deformation is increased in the ROCKWOOL roofing range by an average of 17%. It is a key strength indicator for flat roof insulation. Thus, due to the introduction of new technology, the consumer received even more durable and reliable solutions.
“Power + technology has been successfully tested in European factories. The introduction of innovations on Russian sites confirms that ROCKWOOL has once again proved its leading position in the market: it was possible to increase the strength not by 1-2% - some indicators were improved by 30%. ROCKWOOL products have become even more durable and reliable, and it is more convenient to work with such material,”says Alexander Fomichev, ROCKWOOL Strategic Development Manager.
