The design of reliable ventilation ducts in residential buildings is determined not only by the requirements of the regulatory documents of the OV section. Ventilation ducts are an element of engineering structures that vertically crosses the building, is standardized by fire safety and hygiene requirements, and also affects the layout of apartments. Therefore, those modern technologies that take into account regulatory requirements and at the same time provide additional flexibility in architectural planning are very interesting.
Ventilation ducts CVENT - a solution from Schiedel for monolithic-frame residential buildings
Ventilation ducts CVENT are specially designed for monolithic-frame construction. They consist of lightweight expanded clay concrete blocks up to 33 cm high. Expanded clay concrete does not accumulate moisture, in addition, it is half the weight of reinforced concrete used for a three-meter shaft in panel houses. Relatively light weight and compactness are the main advantages of Schiedel ventilation ducts over the ventilation of concrete products. The latter is well suited for panel housing construction, however, when using such mines in monolithic construction, certain risks arise - for example, late delivery, complexity of installation involving construction equipment, difficulties in ensuring the correct joint of elements.
Sergey Litvin, Project Manager for Ventilation Systems at Schiedel, explains: “The solution turned out to be in great demand for monolithic-frame construction. Lightweight expanded clay concrete reduces the load on the floors. The assortment of blocks - and there are more than twenty types of them - allows you to save space. Simplicity of installation, which does not require the involvement of qualified specialists, reduces the time and cost of implementation. And the main plus is the service life of our ventilation ducts, which is equal to the service life of the building."
The system was developed specifically for monolithic-frame construction - the most demanded type of housing today, durable, modern, with a free layout of apartments.
Service life of ventilation ducts CVENT - over 100 years
Additional adaptability of CVENT ventilation ducts is provided by more than ten types of additional elements and "additional satellites". Ventilation shafts are compactly and conveniently integrated into almost any interior, which excludes unauthorized redevelopment. In addition, they do not require additional finishing, which significantly saves space. For example, rather popular metal air ducts must be lined with bricks or tongue-and-groove blocks to ensure noise protection and fire resistance: as a result, rather bulky structures are obtained. Schiedel ventilation ducts take up 30% less floor space. On the scale of a 17-storey building, this will give an additional 70-80 m², which is equal to the area of two small apartments.
And if in terms of flexibility of use, CVENT air ducts are partly inferior to galvanized ventilation ducts, then in terms of durability they have no competitors today. The service life is over a hundred years. For comparison, metal air ducts will require complete replacement in 30-40 years. The slightest scratch during transportation, installation or storage can reduce their service life. Metal channels are convenient for industrial buildings or large shopping centers, where they are laid mainly horizontally with the possibility of maintenance and replacement. In residential buildings with vertical shafts, the repair and replacement of ventilation ducts is very problematic.
Ease of installation
Another significant advantage of Schiedel air ducts is ease of installation. Exhaust chimney ducts are quickly completed and assembled by ordinary builders. About eight blocks are used on one floor. To ensure the accuracy of the joints, builders are offered a special mounting template and alignment tool. The specialists of the "SHIDEL" company provide support, training and installation supervision.
Hot help for architects and designers from Schiedel
The advantages of using ventilation ducts CVENT opens up not only for the developer, who saves time, money and square meters. For architects and designers, the company's specialists offer full technical support - consultation, calculations, selection tables, ready-made assemblies drawn in AutoCAD and Revit. The company employs its own technical department, which is always ready to help the architect, introduce him to the entire range and find the best solution. For example, with a non-standard floor height or room configuration, the designer will be offered additional elements, the range of which is updated every year, or custom-made blocks for a specific object.
For future residents, a significant bonus will be space saving, environmental friendliness of materials that do not contain harmful substances, and, of course, effective ventilation, which ensures a natural and comfortable climate in the apartment.
Geography of application
With all the advantages, it is not surprising that the scope and geography of the ventilation system is growing steadily. Despite the fact that the product was launched on the Russian market only four years ago, today there are already dozens of successfully sold apartment buildings in Moscow, Murmansk, Kaliningrad, Novorossiysk, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod and other cities of the country. So far, most of the facilities are concentrated in the European part of Russia, but this is explained solely by logistics and the location of the plant in the Tver region. At the same time, Schiedel products can be used in any region. It is known that the colder the climate, the better the conditions for ventilation. The material is stable enough for storage and transportation in an open way, even in the northern regions. There are no restrictions for southern cities and coastal areas with high humidity and stable wind load. Special concrete precast deflectors use wind energy to stabilize the draft of the upper floors.
Completed projects using CVENT. Developers and architects choose Schiedel
Among the most striking implemented projects with the use of Schiedel products can be noted the Novosit residential complex in Novorossiysk, where CVENT blocks 30X55 cm were used; microdistrict Kuvshinka in Cheboksary; Residential complex "Mayakovsky" in Khimki using several types of blocks at once - 26X26 cm, 30X55 cm and 30X70 cm; microdistrict "Alexandria" in Kaliningrad, where it turned out to be more profitable to use Russian products, despite the location of the region, in fact, in the center of Europe.
The first multi-apartment buildings with Schiedel ventilation were erected in regions where the advantages of Schiedel chimneys for apartment heating were well understood. In Moscow and the Moscow Region, the CVENT system did not immediately become widespread in multi-storey buildings, since apartment heating was practically not used here due to fairly well-developed centralized networks. However, after several completed projects and a close acquaintance with the products, the Schiedel system began to rapidly gain popularity among Moscow developers: today developers and architects in 90% of cases understand the advisability of using CVENT ventilation ducts in monolithic housing construction. Thus, the PIK group of companies is actively using Schiedel ventilation solutions. In the area of the Kuntsevo metro station, she is building two high-rise residential buildings on the site of the demolished five-story buildings as part of the program for the resettlement of outdated housing. The municipal order and the most limited budget required the most rational and inexpensive solutions from the Mosproekt designers. Schiedel CVENT ventilation ducts turned out to be the most cost-effective.
Fast installation, economic benefits and custom design options
Another large 30-storey residential complex with the use of Schiedel CVENT is being built by PIK in Kotelniki, not far from the metro station of the same name. In this project, Schiedel products made it possible to optimize the order of construction and installation works and shorten the implementation time.
In Khimki, in the Lobanovo microdistrict, a residential building "Lermontov" has already been built and put into operation. The author of the project was the young architectural bureau "Profproekt". For their 22-storey monolithic brick building, the architects chose the Schiedel CVENT system, appreciating all its advantages. “According to calculations, thanks to the use of this system at this facility, we managed to save 65 m² of floor space,” said Yuri Kozak, head of the Ventilation Systems department at Schiedel. “In addition, CVENT units cost the developer three times cheaper than galvanized air ducts.” 19 floors in the residential tower are equipped with the usual Schiedel CVENT collective ventilation ducts, on the three upper floors, where large duplex apartments are located, individual CVENT channels are used. Thus, this project demonstrated the effectiveness of the application and combination of Schiedel products for different types of buildings and classes of housing.
Obviously, in a fairly short period of time, Schiedel has conquered the Russian market in the field of monolithic frame construction. Quality, unlimited service life and product reliability guarantee the company further successful development in our country.
