October 31, 2018, Moscow - GRAPHISOFT®, a leading developer of BIM solutions for architects and designers, held the third annual user conference: ARCHICAD BIM DAY-2018. More than 350 specialists from design and construction organizations from all over Russia gathered in the legendary House at the Brest Conference.
This year, the main theme of ARCHICAD BIM DAY was the development of cooperation between the participants in the design process and their integration based on the principles of OPEN BIM®. The conference was opened by speeches by experts and representatives of government agencies. The speakers analyzed plans for the development of information modeling in Russia, discussed the prospects for legal regulation, the benefits of data exchange based on open formats, as well as future requirements for digital models from the state expertise.
Sergei Pugachev, Chairman of PTK 705 and Vice President of the BIM-Association: “In the near future we will see the emergence of a BIM mandate, which will help to establish legal regulation in the field of information modeling and introduce into the legislation the definition of a digital model. With the support of the state provided under the Digital Construction program, with the partnership of private companies and large developers, the task of modernizing the construction industry in Russia will be quickly implemented."
An important component of ARCHICAD BIM DAY is the speeches of specialists from leading design organizations. GRAPHISOFT traditionally invites users to share their experience with BIM tools.
The topics of this year's reports were grouped according to design directions: sports facilities, low-rise buildings, civil facilities. For the first time, the program included presentations on industrial design and interior design using ARCHICAD capabilities. The conference participants presented in detail the technical side of creating a digital model, talked about the organization of interaction with related specialists.
Throughout the day, the virtual reality platform BIM-ZONE, as well as a technology exhibition, demonstrated solutions of international vendors supporting information modeling technologies: Trimble, Hexagon, Allplan, NANOCAD.

Vice-President of the St. Petersburg Union of Architects, Academician of Architecture and Honored Architect of Russia Mikhail Mamoshin suggested that “in the future, the GRAPHISOFT conference could become a new platform that could unite the architectural community and build a dialogue with government officials, as well as maintain a high status and the importance of the profession of an architect”.
ARCHICAD BIM DAY-2018 in numbers: 350 participants, 20 speakers, 15 detailed case studies on the use of ARCHICAD in building information modeling. Soon, video versions of the reports will be published on the official website of the conference.
