There are only a few days left before the opening of the architectural festival "Zodchestvo" in Gostiny Dvor. This year's theme is "Transparency" - all program activities and special projects will develop it. Let's tell a little about what the organizers and participants have prepared this time, and what visitors can do.
1. Submit your portfolio
The creative association "Dmitrovka" will hold a portfolio review at the festival, applications for participation in which are accepted until October 18. The seven best portfolios will be presented by the authors to the visitors of Zodchestvo and the jury, which included Nikita Asadov (Asadov's bureau), Ksenia Golubeva (Soyuz bureau), Nikita Dolgaya (architect, thus Dmitrovka) and others.
2. Listen to lectures
As usual, the business program - see it here - is eventful. We advise you to include in your list of obligatory lectures by Russian and foreign architects - Andrey Chernikhov, Eduard Kubensky, Robert Konecny (Poland), Yasha Grobman (Israel) and other equally interesting guests of the festival.
3. Understand the relationship between fog, frost and architecture
Fog and frost are the main characters of the curated special project, which will be presented at Zodchestvo by the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. These natural phenomena, akin to the dispersed subtle qualities of modern architecture, are declared through spatial plastic structures designed on high-tech equipment by architects, engineers and employees of the Skoltech digital production laboratory.
4. See what students are capable of
The School of Transparency curatorial block will present the creative and pedagogical methods of leading architecture schools. Each of the schools participating in the program - MARCHI, MARSH, B&D, RANEPA, MGSU, SGASU, Re-School - will need to present a concept, project, research, analysis or other form of design interpretation of the concept of "transparency" in architecture. The work on the topic will result in original expositions of schools and open defense of prepared projects.
5. Find yourself by the sea
In order to demonstrate the process of the architect's work as transparently as possible, the teachers of the Moscow Architectural Institute Gleb Sobolev and Marina Silkina, together with their students, will build a limestone house for summer holidays by the sea right at the festival (on a scale of 1:10). The project is conceived as interactive: in addition to curators and students, guests of the festival will also be able to participate in the performance.
6. Immerse yourself in the transparency of the city
This project will reveal the essence and many facets of urban transparency. “The streets and interiors of the first floors merge, form a single whole. Moving around the city on foot, watching it from the window of a moving car or public transport, we perceive the space as dynamic, mobile, changing,”- this is how curator Dmitry Narinsky explains his idea.
You can learn more about two special projects from our recent interviews with Vladislav Savinkin and Olga Starkova.
More than 50 different events are planned for Zodchestvo this year [see. Business program of the festival] and 9 special projects and 11 curatorial exhibitions.
