What direction of the institute will be presented at Zodchestvo this year? What will participation in the festival's exposition bring to the university itself?
Gleb Sobolev: At Zodchestvo we represent the Department of Design by Environmental Architecture, which has been developing at the Moscow Architectural Institute for thirty years. Within the framework of this direction, students receive knowledge not only about the architecture of buildings, but also about the relationship between architecture and the environment, learn to perceive the environment as a whole.
Participation in the exhibition gives us the opportunity to show others around the different sides of the training of architects-designers of the environment, to establish new communication channels both with professionals and with visitors to the exhibition.
Why did you choose the installation-happening genre to participate in the exhibition?
GS: An installation-happening, during which students will build a model of a house at a scale of 1:10, will make the learning process at our institute transparent, and will also demonstrate to the guests of the festival all stages of creating a student project from finding an idea to building a model of a house.
Is it true that visitors will be able to join in the construction of the facility? Why did you decide to make the project interactive?
GS: Yes, guests will be able to come up and lay their stone in the wall of the house we will be building. On the last day of the festival, they together with us will disassemble the model and take away stones with the authors' autographs. We conceived to give the installations such an interactive character, because we believe that it is very important to teach students not only design, but also active interaction with society. Communication at the stand will be useful and interesting for both us and visitors.
