The project of the famous Swiss architectural bureau Herzog & de Meuron does not leave anyone indifferent. Winners of the Pritzker Prize (architectural "Oscar") and the authors of dozens of the most beautiful houses in the world have built Skoltech - this is their first building in Russia. The facades of the building are finished with wood panels that form a “ribbed” structure - it unites the entire composition of the blocks. And the angular folds of the roof, like those of the Elbe Philharmonic (Hamburg) by the same authors, cannot be confused with anything. In addition to the aesthetics of appearance, this finish controls the flow of daylight into the premises. In the facades of the building, the architects used Guardian SunGuard® HP Neutral 60/40 glass. Its moderate specularity is emphasized by decorative elements - wooden lamellas. Besides, Thanks to a special invisible magnetron sputtering coating, Guardian SunGuard® HP Neutral 60/40 combines sun protection and heat saving properties.

The closer you get to know it, the more the institute resembles a fortress: two large semicircles, East and West, are inscribed in the main ring. Each of them, in turn, consists of buildings that form student quarters. Despite its appearance, the building is inherently "airy": all courtyards and buildings are interconnected - you can easily move from one to another. The administration and dean's offices of five faculties are located in the space of the outer ring, and the auditoriums in the inner ones. In the middle of this impeccable geometric composition is the Central Courtyard, which can be seen from almost everywhere.

You involuntarily remember that learning is light when you are already inside the institute. To ensure maximum light transmission, the architects chose Guardian SunGuard® Neutral 80/58 HT multifunctional glass for laboratory glazing. Advancement of science and development of future technologies, we are confident in the Guardian, is possible only in the most comfortable conditions. When it's cold outside, SunGuard Neutral 80/58 HT helps to keep the air in hallways and classrooms warm, and when it gets hot, it protects from the scorching sun rays, keeping it cool.
