Wide boulevards, the capital's largest park, the largest football stadium and the most famous sculpture in Denmark: Esterbro is considered by many to be Copenhagen's best neighborhood. It is located close to water and parkland and next to Copenhagen's symbol, The Little Mermaid.
Recently, a new architectural landmark, the Charlotte Tower hotel, rises above Esterbro. The Lundgaard & Tranberg architects were inspired by the historic houses located here with picturesque brickwork and zinc roofs. Therefore, the facade of the new 54-meter tower is covered with rectangular cassettes of various depths and lengths made of titanium-zinc, reminiscent of brickwork. About 45 tons of RHEINZINK material was used for cladding the facade with a total area of about 3000 m²
in the cassette system.
The combination of elongated narrow window openings with bay windows, including those covering the corners of the building, gives the tower its dynamism.
The natural patina on the surface of the façade gives a lively appearance to the tower.
