The Entrepreneurship Forum at the Yabuli ski resort, 200 km from Harbin, was founded in 2001 and was held for the twentieth time last year. Thanks to the participation in the "organizing committee" of the heads of Alibaba, Baidu, Lenovo, Xiaomi and other major companies in the world, the conference received the nickname "China Davos", and over time it required its own building.
The Beijing bureau MAD received an order in 2017, and at the end of 2020, the congress center with an area of 16 thousand m2 hosted its first forum. Situated on a mountain slope among coniferous forests, the building, according to the architects, resembles a tent with its soft shapes. The travel metaphor is continued by a large lantern in the ceilings: it glows at night like a bonfire, around which entrepreneurs exchange experiences, according to the founder of MAD Ma Yansun and his employees. In addition, the white roof should resemble the snowy hills of Yabuli.
The "warmth" of the interior is provided by the abundance of wood in the decoration, as well as sunlight penetrating through the said lamp. In general, the solution of the building, its color and palette of materials reminds one of the famous
theater in Harbin by the same authors.
The functional program includes, in addition to the main auditorium, an exhibition hall and a television studio, as well as a number of smaller conference rooms. The exhibitions are expected to be available to the general public, and the building as a whole will be suitable for various congresses, trainings and other business-related events.
