Detailed plans for the new construction have been submitted to the Sauzark District Council for consideration. According to Hadid, "the time has come for a new center of architecture in London, a place [of concentration] of energy and new ideas that could compete with similar institutions in other cities of the world." This project is especially important for Hadid, as this is her first construction in London, the city that became her second homeland. The director of the Architectural Foundation and renowned critic Rauen Moore said that the new building will become not only a center for popularizing "the best in modern architecture", but also an excellent example of high-quality architecture in its essence.
The crystal structure will be clad in stainless steel sheets. The main room inside will be a lobby with glass walls, all four floors high. It aims to unite the inner space of the center and connect its interiors with the urban environment. Exhibition galleries are planned on the first and second floors and the so-called "mezzanine" tier, the second floor will also house a hall for holding social events, and administrative premises will occupy the fourth floor. Thus, the architectural center will play the role of an exhibition hall with an architectural specialization, as well as the headquarters of a charitable public organization, which in fact is the Architectural Foundation.
