The buildings will reach a height of 216 m: this size is considered dangerous for this region of Kazakhstan due to the high seismic threat, but an exception will most likely be made for this project. The towers, named after their creator "Foster Towers", will become part of the Almaty Financial District, which is currently under construction on Al-Farabi Avenue.
Two skyscrapers facing each other will be surrounded by smaller buildings - housing and store buildings, between which a new square will appear. The high-rise buildings themselves will be distinguished by the diagonal pattern of profiles on the facades, tested by Foster's workshop in the project of the Swiss-Re building in London. Like the British prototype, the towers will be rounded in plan. Their upper floors will be occupied by winter gardens, and the "twins" will be connected to each other by a glass "canopy" at the level of the first floor, which will play the role of their common lobby.
If the Foster Towers project is now approved by the city authorities, their construction will be completed in 2009.
