The architects have created a structure that will not advertise the achievements of the Danes, but will turn into a piece of Denmark in China.

The looped cycle track pavilion brings Shanghai the vibrant details of Copenhagen life. First of all, these are free bicycles for movement around the city: 1,500 units will be brought to China for use by visitors on the territory of the EXPO, and then - together with the pavilion itself - will be donated to Shanghai people.

In the center of the building will be a traditional coastal bath with real seawater from the harbor of the Danish capital; the water will be brought by tanker so that the guests of the pavilion can be convinced of its purity: this will serve as proof of the success of the Danes in the struggle for a clean environment. The original sculpture "The Little Mermaid" by Edward Eriksen will be installed in the center of this space: Denmark's consent to parting with the national symbol (for as long as 6 months of the EXPO) should show its openness to the world of this country. During this period, in Copenhagen's harbor, at the site of this landmark, works on the theme of "The Little Mermaid" by three contemporary Chinese artists will be exhibited, and Ai Weiwei has already given his consent to participate in the project.

The pavilion will also include the spaces of the “natural playground” and the “green” picnic, which are also integral features of life in the Danish capital, according to the organizers. The theme of the additional exposition, which will be placed along the walls of the cycle track, will be “wellfairytales” - which can be translated as “exhibition fairy tales of prosperity”.

In general, the BIG pavilion is an exact fit into the general theme of the EXPO: "Better city, better life!"
