The building for the Dutch fashion denim company will be built in an industrial part of the city, with its main façade facing the A10 highway. This location, which is fully consistent with the spirit of the brand, was played up in the project.
A 140 m long black concrete structure stretches along the road. Along its perimeter there are offices and utility rooms, and in the center there is a zone of "creative" departments of the company with "stepped" levels of double-height rooms, which should stimulate cooperation between employees of different specialties. This area opens onto the main facade facing the highway in the form of glazed volumes. Since the building is placed on a podium with parking inside, the free space between these volumes resembles an open stage. There you can hold fashion shows and parties, demonstrate installations. If necessary, this area, called RAW, can be closed by sliding hangar doors.
The main entrance is located on the side of the main façade, under the showroom's glazed console. In the interior, it is adjoined by a special area for visitors, from where, however, you can watch the work of the G-Star RAW team.
The project was developed under the leadership of Rem Koolhaas, Helen van Loon and Reinier de Graf. The construction area will be 27.5 thousand m2.
