In principle, this is not surprising: according to the author of the concept, Boris Levyant, people of other professions, including architects, are often involved in the design of yachts. It is known that Lord Norman Foster is fond of sea sports. The interiors for the most expensive boats were made by Odile Decck and Philippe Starck. And yet, such a work has not been seen among Russian architects for a long time. It can even be assumed that for the last 90 years it certainly has not existed. The Soviet architect could be found drawing fantastic extraterrestrial stations (it happened), but not designing a new model of a ‘luxury’ boat.

In this case, going beyond the scope of the profession is by no means utopian, it is quite real - which confirms the fact that the first sample is close to completion. And also the fact that yacht specialists in the professional press have already noted the beauty and uniqueness of the project, justifying the latter by the fact that the boat was invented by an architect.

The concept formulated by Boris Levyant allows the new yacht to occupy a certain (still empty) niche in the market of its kind. It has several key features. First of all, this boat allows you to travel comfortably and far. You can use it to sail from Odessa to Cannes or even cross the Atlantic Ocean in relatively good weather (if, of course, such a desire arises), says Boris Levyant. Travelers are almost autonomous, with average waves they do not feel rocking, it is quiet inside, fuel is consumed sparingly. All this distinguishes the project of Boris Levyant from the plastic yachts widespread now, designed for quick but short journeys ("from restaurant to restaurant" - the author jokes). The plastic boat shakes strongly even with slight excitement, it can sail quickly, but it consumes a lot of fuel.

So, the main design feature of Boris Levyant's yacht is that its hull is not plastic. And aluminum. In addition to good seaworthiness, this relatively conservative material lends a touch of respectability - which did not fail to be reflected in the shape of the hull. The gleaming metal bow makes the yacht look like a warship - it is serious, calm and even traditional in appearance. By the way, Boris Levyant, formulating the concept, strove to create a "motor yacht with the feeling of a sailing boat" - here it means a naturally smooth glide through the water, when the bow of the ship cuts the waves, and does not bounce on each of them. But in this comparison with a sailing boat (and in the form itself), you can also feel a "tribute to tradition" - a slight tinge of romantic respect for history.

However, this is exactly what an unobtrusive hint - perhaps by chance in search of the optimal contours of the case. The rest of the yacht is very modern, not only technically, but also in terms of the interior design, entirely designed by ABD architects. The modern interior design is another feature of this yacht. “Dutch shipbuilders are considered the best, but they are too conservative about interiors,” says Boris Levyant. Good modernist solutions are only found in super-expensive boats. It turns out that in Dutch yachts, the modern interior has become a luxury for the richest - which, admittedly, sounds unexpected for an uninitiated person. ABD architects remedies this injustice by designing a contemporary furnishings for a boat that, while ‘luxury’, is still not the most expensive.

Although the word "furnishings" is arbitrary. If the creation of an ordinary home or office interior consists, as a rule, in manipulating a set of objects and materials, then in the case of a boat it is a full-fledged design of everything, down to the last drawer. There is not much space inside, you need to save it - this is where the architectural skill in terms of operating with space comes in. This work is similar in meaning to the experiments of the avant-garde masters - for example, here you can recall the built-in wardrobes - the kitchens of Moses Ginzburg.

And finally, the self-explanatory name of the yacht is ‘Liberty boat’. This was the name of the boats on which military sailors were sent on leave (or at the end of their service) ashore. The meaning is obvious - to freedom, to dismissal … But not ashore, but at sea. Leaving the worries of finance on land, you can forget about everything on such a boat for a while and go free - on a journey.

PS. The yacht is being built in Holland under the management of Morozov yachts. The author of the design is Boris Levyant, the interior design is ABD architects (the head is Boris Levyant). Technical support of the project - Oliver Van der Meer.

The length of the yacht is 22.44 m (with a length over 24 m, a professional captain is required, i.e. the ‘Liberty boat’ is approaching the upper limit of this parameter). The speed for a comfortable and economical ride is 12 knots (20 km / h), with one gas station you can go up to 4500 km. Maximum speed - 24 knots (45 km / h); for high-speed plastic yachts, this value is on average about 30 knots (60 km / h). With a 2-meter wave, rolling is absent due to the stabilization system.
