On the coastal strip in the city of Beihai in the south of the country (Guangxi), a new residential area will appear, as well as office buildings and a hotel. The architects combined the usual types of a tower house and an elongated low-rise residential building; the result was a tall and narrow ribbon building. In order to connect both it with the surrounding landscape and the rest of the city quarters with the sea, it will be cut by various-sized openings, and its outlines will also repeat the hilly relief of the Beihai neighborhood. The architects emphasize the importance of the relationship between the building and the natural environment for Chinese architecture, but they do not want to follow the traditional path of "construction - garden around": instead, they offer the townspeople to settle in the elements of the landscape they created - therefore the complex got its name "Artificial Hills"
