The ONE York residential complex on 6th Avenue in Manhattan was completed this month. The 32-apartment building is a glass block emerging from a reconstructed industrial building.
The apartment building at 580 Carroll Street in Brooklyn is a more modest 17-unit development. Its two 4-storey buildings are separated from the street space by a garden, and each resident will receive a comfortable balcony-terrace.
Clinton Park, which has already begun construction in West Manhattan, spans over half a block. Along with 900 apartments on 27 floors, it will also house a Mercedes Benz showroom, a supermarket and a fitness club, and the stables of the New York Police Equestrian Unit. The building consists of two rectangular blocks with a height of 30 and 106 m, connected by a third, steps rising from the lower to the higher building. All roofs and terraces of the complex will be landscaped.
The hotel of the Habita group next to the High Line Park will be located in a former industrial area, where expensive boutique hotels and galleries are now appearing. The facade covered with a metal mesh and the glass elevator shaft removed from the volume of the building are a reference to the past of the district.
Another hotel, Cassa, is more traditional in its appearance: its elongated rectangular volume is enlivened only by dynamically located window openings. The hotel rooms, restaurant and bar are located in the lower part of the building, the upper part will be occupied by luxe class accommodation.
