The park will be created at the old Pier 11 on the Delaware River. Now this wooden structure is not used and is a wasteland overgrown with weeds and even trees.
The architects propose to strengthen it (its foundations are more than 100 years old), create an artificial terrain there, lay several ramp paths through it, one of which will lead to the observation deck at the river end of the pier. The space of the new park will be cut diagonally by an alley, on one side of the pier the pier will be completely paved, on the other, lawns will be laid out, wooden stands, benches and a platform for resting near the water, a pier for boats will be arranged. Aquatic plants will be planted in the water next to the pier, and another platform will be arranged near the embankment.
Thus, the townspeople will spend time on the embankment, despite the proximity of major highways, because of which the Delaware River is now not popular as a vacation spot; the city will be re-linked to its river.
The reconstruction budget is $ 5 million, and the size of the pier is 165 x 33.5 m.
