The architect remains faithful to postmodernism: the museum complex looks more like a country palace than one of the museums of the automotive industry so popular now. The main building with the "Great Hall" - the main exhibition space, covered with a wooden vaulted ceiling - is flanked by outbuildings that form a courdoner. There is a regular park around, the work of landscape architect Lodewijk Baljon.

To harmonize his construction with local tradition, Graves used steeply pitched roofs (which should also make the structure visually smaller); the facades are made of bricks in a typical Dutch way.

The museum houses 230 cars, the earliest of which was assembled in 1887. The world's largest collection of "automotive art" - paintings and sculptures, posters, etc., dedicated to the automobile is also presented to the public for the first time.
