The Energy Report, subtitled 100% Renewable Energy by 2050, addresses the key human challenges posed by global climate change and dwindling mineral resources. According to the authors, which also include the consulting agency Ecofys, many of them can be solved if the use of coal, oil and gas is gradually replaced by wind, solar, water, biofuel, and geothermal energy.
The purpose of the report is to help national governments and businesses understand the challenges of such a massive upheaval, but also to inspire them to use renewable energy more daringly so that a “renewable” economy can become a reality. This document shows the benefits of global cooperation and deeper integration of the world's energy infrastructure.
The staff of AMO, the research arm of the Rem Koolhaas bureau of OMA, who contributed to the creation of the report led by Rainier de Graaf, “conceptualized” and enhanced the geographical, political and cultural significance of a world of 100% renewable energy - a world without borders, where all continents received equal access to clean energy, a world that can be created by 2050.
This AMO / OMA project continues on a larger scale two of their other plans on a similar theme - Zeekracht, a project to turn the North Sea into a "wind farm" by 2050, and "Roadmap 2050" - a plan for the EU's transition to clean energy sources, all the same. 2050.
