The main architectural event of the next week promises to be the architectural and design All-Russian youth festival SamaraNEXT, this time dedicated to the 425th anniversary of the city and organized by Project Volga magazine and Pro. Dvizhenie project. For seven days, from Monday (July 11) to Sunday, young architects and designers will erect landscaping items, projects of which have been pre-selected by the organizers, on the city beach and on the boulevard (the projects can be viewed here). The authors will live on an island with the wonderful name Golodny, which is why the whole festival was subtitled SamaraNEXT. The island, and Golodny itself was called the Island of Freedom during the festival.

In Moscow, the week will begin with the jubilee celebrations in honor of the 450th anniversary of the Cathedral of the Intercession on the Moat, better known as the Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed by the name of its northeastern side-altar. The celebration will begin on Tuesday, July 12, with a morning patriarchal service in the cathedral, then the restored side-chapels of Varlaam Khutynsky and the Entrance to Jerusalem will be solemnly opened, and an exhibition of photographs by Georgy Sapozhnikov will open in GUM, where you can see the architectural details of the cathedral that are inaccessible to the common visitor of the Red area. In the evening, the celebration will end with a 20-minute ringing of the cathedral bell tower.

The end of the week will be the most active in St. Petersburg. There, on Saturday, July 16, it is planned to finally (after several transfers) open an exhibition of projects for the reconstruction of New Holland. The exhibition will open at the Central Naval Museum on the Kryukov Canal embankment, opposite New Holland.

And on the night from Saturday to Sunday, Sergei Nikitin will spend a bike ride in St. Petersburg. Among its leaders are historians Maria Makogonova, Boris Kirikov and architect Sergei Tchoban. It will focus on the architectural heritage of the 20th century.
