In this project, more attention was clearly paid to the functionality and flexibility of the design, in comparison with the "symbolism" and originality of the appearance of the future structure. The arena for 80,000 spectators will be the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics, as well as for athletics competitions. After the end of the Games, it will be converted into a multifunctional stadium for 25,000 people.
A tent structure in the form of a 28 m wide strip will be used as an overlap; it will cover two-thirds of the seats.
Outside, the stadium will be “wrapped” with a strip of non-woven material: it will act as a giant screen onto which various images and inscriptions will be projected.
