The architects won the competition back in 2006, but since then the management plans for the Garda Trentino complex have changed and the project has been completely redesigned. In particular, now we are talking about a sports complex surrounded by a two-tier parking lot with 1,500 spaces, designed for football, volleyball and basketball matches.
A larger building is also planned, consisting of a multifunctional hall for concerts, fashion shows, etc. for 3,000 people, and an exhibition hall connected to the existing pavilions of the fair by a bridge. Each of the tiers of this building has its own entrance to the foyer, which allows it to be used separately. The spaces on the upper floor are almost devoid of supports and are illuminated through the openings in the floors.
Exhibition and multifunctional halls can be used together thanks to the sliding door system; also, if necessary, it is possible to connect to them the space of the foyer, located in a separate building made of glass and steel, whose "chaotic" forms should become the new symbol of the Garda Trentino complex.
Construction should start in 2011 and end in 2013.
