In Nuremberg, a phased reconstruction of the exhibition complex has been going on for a long time: we have already written about the new entrance to this ensemble, now we are talking about a pavilion with an area of 8,000 m2. With a building width of 85 m (and a length of 95 m), its interior will do without supports, and the ceilings that rise from north to south from 13 m to 20 m will be covered with openwork fins from the inside.
The transparent facades from the outside will be provided with a composition of lattice "trees" that play the role of sun cutters. The pavilion will be located next to the entrance to the complex, so its task will be to create the first (and main) impression from visiting the exhibition. The building is due to open in 2014; its budget will be 34 million euros.
In Milan, the Hadid Pavilion is much more modest in size: it is a temporary object in white and black marble, created for the Salone Internazionale del Mobile and Design Week 2012. The black part of the object is made up of many small "fragments", each of which is configured as an exercise on the theme of natural forms.
All together they make up an organic composition - an architect's reflection on the "incomparable logic and harmony of nature."
