10 projects of the leading architectural workshops of Moscow and St. Petersburg took part in the competition: AM Totana Kuzembaev, the architectural bureau A. Len, Architectural Studio Asadov, Atrium, Evgeny Gerasimov and partners, Mosproekt-4 workshop No. 6, Sergey Skuratov Architects, Studio 44, Pole -Design. The curators of the competition projects exhibition were Vladimir Kuzmin and Vladislav Savinkin (Pole-Design).
The theme of transparency, included in the motto of the competition, did not arise by chance - it is carried out by the largest companies in the field of architectural glazing. Reynaers is a designer and supplier of aluminum structures for building glazing. AGC is a manufacturer of flat glass for various industries, including construction. The innovative technologies from Reynaers Aluminum and AGC provide architects with a wide range of different types of translucent structures.
It was interesting to see how the Russian architects disposed of this rich choice. The main criteria for selecting projects for participation in the competition for the architectural and constructive solution of a country house (a pavilion or any environmental object) were transparency, energy efficiency and the use of products from Reynaers and AGC. The use of DuPont materials (Sentry Glas) was optional.
The first place, a trip to the Architecture Biennale in Venice in 2012 and licensed design software was won by the Atrium architectural studio (Anton Nadtochiy, Vera Butko, Ekaterina Golovanova, https://atrium.ru/) with the object "Cottage Malakhovka".
Life in a transparent house was the customer's wish, completely uncharacteristic for our reality. The architects bent the volume of the house in an arc, as if on the one hand a cozy, private courtyard was formed, and on the other, the facade opened as much as possible to the surrounding forest. At first, it was planned to make the openings absolutely transparent - even the racks and imposts of structural glazing were supposed to be glass, but for a number of reasons this unique idea had to be abandoned.
And then the Reynaers company came to the aid of the architects. Its engineers have developed a thinner profile "CW50-SL modified" specially for this project. The innovation has been successful and Reynaers is planning to introduce a modified system into its standard range. And for the manufacture of entrance and terrace doors, a CS-86 door profile with glued stemalite cladding was used. The Malakhovka cottage, which won first place, is also valuable because it is under construction and is almost ready.
2nd place, Apple MacBook Air computer and licensed design software went to the architectural studio of Totan Kuzembaev (https://www.totan.ru/) for the Boomerang cottage.
The boomerang house is planned to be built on the shores of two lakes. It looks like not only a boomerang, but also like a golden bird, slightly touching the ground and spreading its wings over it. The wooden walls are cut through by large windows that open to the water. It is planned to use the Reynaers CW50-SG structural glazing system for glazing.
III place, Apple iPad tablet and licensed design software won the "Transparent House" by A. Len architectural studio,
The two-storey "Transparent House" "grows" out of the ground, forming a new relief - multi-level roof slopes pass into walls inclined at different angles. The rock-like house melts into the landscape. Most of the surfaces are fully glazed using the CW50-SC (Structural Clamped) façade system and CP155 sliding doors.
